Timber Projects
Every species behaves different in Adelaide's climate. We know what works where, and why.
What people ask us
What areas do you service?
We're based in Seaford and work across Adelaide's southern suburbs, the foothills (Coromandel Valley, Blackwood, Belair, Stirling) and the Fleurieu Peninsula (McLaren Vale, Willunga, Aldinga, Victor Harbor). If you're further out and the project's right, give us a call.
What timber species work best for decks in Adelaide?
It depends on your site and how you'll use the space. Spotted gum and blackbutt are popular for their durability and natural resistance to Adelaide's dry summers and wet winters. Merbau is another strong option for pool surrounds. Scotty will recommend the right species for your specific project after a site visit.
How much does a custom deck cost in Adelaide?
Every project is different, so it's hard to give a ballpark without seeing your site. Factors include timber species, deck size, site access, slope and substructure requirements. We provide detailed, itemised quotes after a free site visit so there are no surprises.
How long does a deck or pergola project take?
Most deck builds take 1 to 3 weeks depending on size and complexity. Pergolas are typically 1 to 2 weeks. Larger projects combining multiple elements can take longer. We'll give you a clear timeline in your quote and keep you updated throughout the build.
Do you handle council approvals and permits?
We can guide you through the approval process and let you know if your project needs a development application. For straightforward builds like standard-height decks and pergolas, permits often aren't required, but we'll always check before we start.
What's the difference between hardwood and treated pine decking?
Hardwood is more durable, looks better with age, and handles Adelaide's climate without the chemical treatment that pine requires. It costs more upfront but lasts significantly longer and needs less maintenance over time. We specialise in hardwood because we believe it's the better long-term investment.
Can you work with recycled or reclaimed timber?
Absolutely. We do a lot of recycled timber work including old bridge timbers, salvaged hardwood, and reclaimed materials with real character. It takes longer to source and work with, but the results are worth it.
